When you think you have no options, everything grinds to a halt. Ideas stop flowing. Energy slowly diminishes. Vision becomes narrow. Feeling powerless sucks the energy from every part of your being.
But feeling powerless is a choice – your choice. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but once you choose to accept a feeling of powerlessness, then you are choosing to be a victim of the situation. That’s because thoughts trigger feelings and feelings trigger actions. If you want options you simply have to change your perspective.
You may not be able to change the situation that started it all, and you can acknowledge the situation sucks, but you don’t have to feel powerless. Instead, ask yourself “What can I do?” or “Who can I ask to help?” Do anything but give in.
When you recognize that feeling powerless comes from within, you begin to have the power to change it.
